Notes

The marine layer rolls in over the Los Angeles basin and begins to smother the lights of the metropolis. Overhead in the night sky as seen from the Mount Wilson Observatory are Jupiter, Venus and a crescent Moon engaged in a celestial gathering, slowly sinking toward the western horizon far off over the Pacific Ocean.
